Intricate Carved Capital Design

This column capital exhibits a highly decorative and symmetrical composition. The central design features large, deeply carved volutes or scrolls that anchor the upper corners, sweeping inwards towards a central floral or leaf element. Below these prominent scrolls, multiple layers of stylized acanthus-like leaves are arranged in a dense, overlapping pattern, wrapping around the circular base of the heading. The carving is deep and precise, creating significant depth and shadow.

The surface is a light, off-white or cream colour, characterised by a matte and slightly granular texture. This light surface contrasts sharply with the dark, shadowed recesses of the carving, emphasising the three-dimensional geometry and the complexity of the scroll and leaf patterns. The overall proportions are robust, transitioning visually from a circular lower profile to a wider, square upper silhouette.
